Checkout Blocks is free. The stack around it is not.
Checkout Blocks costs nothing and it is made by Shopify, so the question is not price. It is what the app leaves you to buy elsewhere. It ships no upsell engine, no third-party integrations and no revenue analytics, so this page prices the app you end up adding on top.
Nothing. The app is free at any volume
There is no ladder, no cap and no commission: Checkout Blocks is free to install and it stays free however large you get, which is a real advantage worth stating first. The cost lands somewhere else. Checkout Blocks customises the thank-you and order-status pages, and on Shopify Plus extends into the full checkout with custom fields, address validation, rules for hiding or reordering delivery and payment methods, and order or shipping discounts. What it does not do is sell anything: there is no product upsell engine, no recommendation integrations and no revenue reporting. So merchants who want AOV from the checkout run Checkout Blocks plus a paid upsell app, and that second app is the whole bill.
What Checkout Blocks costs
| Plan or band | Price / month | Capped on |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout Blocks | Free | Any order volume, no cap |
Checkout Blocks is developed by Shopify and has no app subscription charge. The costs below apply to adding product upsells with a separate app.
What you add to cover the gap
Required for any product upsell, because Checkout Blocks has no upsell engine. The range is Rebuy's Checkout & Post-Purchase package from 500 to 10,000 orders, the cheapest verified option at each end.
One alternative for the upsell layer. Shopify Plus only, and it scales on volume.
Another, capped at $2,000 of upsell revenue a month.
Checkout Blocks reports no revenue or AOV data, so attribution comes from whatever you add, if it has any.
Checkout Blocks connects to none. Algolia, Nosto, Athos, Boost Commerce and Tagalys connect to Checkout Components on Pro at $199.99/mo.
This comparison includes a separate upsell app because Checkout Blocks does not provide product upsells.
Total cost of ownership by order volume
Checkout Blocks plus the cheapest verified checkout upsell app, against Growth at $99.99 flat. The upsell app used here is Rebuy's Checkout & Post-Purchase package, which is the lowest verified price at each volume.
| Level | Checkout Blocks | Growth · flat | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 orders | $25 | $99.99 | The stack is $74.99 cheaper |
| 1,000 orders | $49 | $99.99 | The stack is $50.99 cheaper |
| 2,000 orders | $96 | $99.99 | The stack is $3.99 cheaper |
| 5,000 orders | $225 | $99.99 | You save $125.01 |
| 10,000 orders | $400 | $99.99 | You save $300.01 |
Every row is Checkout Blocks at zero plus the upsell app's price, because the free app contributes no cost and no upsell revenue. Pick a different upsell app and the rows move: Aftersell's checkout line is $99 at the bottom end, UpsellPlus is $119.
Below roughly 2,000 orders a month the free-plus-cheap-upsell-app stack costs less than Growth, and at 2,000 it is still $3.99 cheaper. Past that the upsell app's volume pricing takes over and the stack overtakes us, reaching $400 at 10,000 orders. The trade is not only price: you are running two apps, two configurations and two support queues, and your revenue reporting comes from whichever half provides it.
Where Checkout Blocks wins, and it genuinely does
Shopify Functions, and we do not do them
Custom discount logic, cart and checkout validation rules, payment method filtering, shipping rate customisation and order routing. Checkout Blocks has deep Shopify Functions support and Checkout Components has none, by choice: we work through UI extensions and display rules. If your requirement is server-side checkout logic, Checkout Blocks is the right tool and you should use it. The two run side by side without conflict.
Free, at any size, forever
No band, no cap, no commission. If your checkout requirement is content, fields and validation rather than revenue, you should not pay anyone for it, us included.
First-party, from Shopify
Built and maintained by Shopify, so it moves with the platform and carries no vendor risk. No third-party app can offer that.
Checkout controls we do not have
Address format validation, and hiding or reordering delivery and payment methods. Those are Functions-backed capabilities and they are not on our roadmap.

Every Checkout Blocks figure on this page was read from the sources below on the date shown, and none of it is estimated. Where they publish no price, this page says so instead of filling the gap. We re-check these quarterly, and vendors change pricing without notice: if you spot a figure that has moved, tell us and we will correct it.
We rebuild your funnels before you cancel anything.
Parity audit of your current setup, then a free rebuild of your funnels while Checkout Blocks keeps serving. Both apps run side by side on your own traffic for 2 weeks, and you sign a checklist before anything gets cancelled. Anything we have not matched, we build.
